Advanced Life Support Level 1

Code Blue Medical is an accredited course centre for the Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support Level 1 Course and is available in a wide range of locations around Australia. Courses can also be conducted for organisations at your site or at one of our many venues.

The ALS Level 1 course is designed for healthcare professionals who need skills in Advanced Life Support as part of their daily clinical duties.

Our course is designed to develop foundation skills and knowledge while providing the confidence for managing medical emergencies, utilising some of the most advanced medical simulation equipment available today.

During the course, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to:

  • Recognise and manage the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach;
  • Deliver standardised CPR in adults (Basic Life Support)
  • Manage a cardiac arrest by working with a multidisciplinary team in an emergency situation;
  • Become an effective and confident team member and leader by utilising non-technical skills.

 

This course is suitable for clinicians in the following areas:

  • General practice
  • Pre-hospital / First response
  • Ward-based clinical areas
  • Community health facilities

 

All applicants must hold a professional healthcare qualification or be in training for a professional healthcare qualification. This includes medical students and nurses. This course is also a valuable professional development opportunity for international medical graduates.

Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support is an annual requirement for many in the healthcare sector. Code Blue Medical recognises the underpinning knowledge and skills of participants by ensuring the course is very practical. A short theory session to refresh Students and update any changes to resuscitation is followed by airway management and cardiac arrest skill stations. We can integrate the training with operational requirements of organisations, training small groups over an hour, and allowing them to return to work with minimal disruption. The Psychological Mental Health Course gives you the skills and knowledge to help someone in need. You may have learnt first aid help people who have experienced trauma or an illness but now you can learn first aid for the mind. The course is conducted over eight hours incorporating theory and practical sessions in a relaxed and supported environment.

Safe Handling and Disposal of Sharps

The handling  and disposal of sharps can be dangerous if not undertaken in a safe way using the correct equipment and technique. Needle stick injuries are prevalent in the healthcare sector with many able to be avoided. Poor practice and not following procedures results in many injuries. Other needle stick injuries occur when sharps are being disposed of in the community. By using the appropriate equipment and following good training, sharps can be safely disposed of.
